Looking for interior design ideas to style up your bedroom?

Searching for ways to decorate the room to help you relax and get a good night sleep?

Want practical inspiration to discuss bedroom decor with your interior designer?

Then you’ve come to the right blog post!

Inspired by the many discussions we have had with our valued clients for bedroom interior design in Bangladesh, this article offers valuable insight into how you can upgrade your own space into a personal sanctuary where you can let go of all worries and sleep peacefully.

Have indoor plants

Indoor plants are an easy and effective way to uplift your mood (especially in the morning) and infuse vibrancy into your bedroom. Greenery is widely recognised to add a refreshing touch to any room interior design.

We suggest including potted and hanging plants into the bedroom.

Finally, while many homeowners prefer living plants, artificial greenery can also serve the purpose if it’s difficult to maintain real ones (like if natural light is limited in the room).

Ensure that the greenery includes flowers

Most interior designers in Bangladesh will recommend putting fresh flowers in the bedroom to add a pop of colour to your sleeping space. It can be anything from a few blooms that catch your fancy to a full-fledged bouquet.

A floral display is a great way to create a lively and relaxing atmosphere in the room.

Trial a nature-inspired look

Apart from actual plants, you can also take inspiration from the outdoors while planning your colours to create a natural ambience in your bedroom.

A good example would be to paint your walls forest green while maintaining a clean white ceiling – providing a neatly juxtaposed look.

Adorn corners with wall art featuring natural and earthy themes. Extend the approach to other room elements like the headboard and bedside table.

Ensure the room feels light and airy

A pink and blush colour plan can create a vibrant and light atmosphere. It introduces a sense of freshness and brightness to the room, while maintaining a neutral essence.

Try out pendant lighting

Compared with traditional ceiling illumination, pendant lights add a touch of uniqueness.

This naturally elevates the room ambience, giving it a polished and premium look with minimal effort.

Create a stunning headboard

Experimenting with light and dark can create an impressive headboard feature wall.

As we shall see, bedroom interior design can be done not just by colours but also by well-planned light displays. If that sounds like a good idea, craft an attention-catching display on your headboard with LED light strips.

In our experience, many Bangladesh home interior design consumers feel that artwork is meant only or mostly for the living room.

That’s not true.

You can utilise paintings and other pieces to create a stunning gallery-style aesthetic in your bedroom. Transform empty wall spaces behind/above your cupboards and the bed into alluring visual displays.

Add linen

Here’s a pro interior design tip: You can create a restful ambience in your bedroom with suitable bed linen.

Of course, not all bed styles will support a linen-based aesthetic. Elegant choices – like a four poster bed – are very suitable for some natural linen fabric to be added to create a calm yet easygoing look.

Go for a layered look

Any BD interior designer will tell you that adding textures can give your living space a fascinating look.

Applying this concept to your bedroom, you can go for things like plush linens and cushions in various shades to not only boost visual interest but also add a sense of luxurious comfort.

To complete the look, add a cosy rug – We will discuss adding a rug later on in this blog post. For further insight on the floor, refer to our blog post on the best colours for bedroom floors.

Make the ceiling fan unique

In a warm-climate country like Bangladesh, the ceiling fan is an essential part of your room interior.

However, you can turn that into a decorative element too, by opting for uniquely designed fans.

Many popular fan designs have a vintage look, and you can consider complementing them with statement wall clocks.

Go for custom furniture

For example, a thoughtfully created vanity table can not only be used as a work desk (a good example of multi-functional furniture), but also add a distinctive vintage charm.

If you opt to custom-make your furniture, it can be amazingly productive.

Play with wallpaper

Ask any bedroom designer BD, and they will tell you that the bedroom can be a fabulous canvas to trial bold wallpaper patterns. From abstract patterns to impactful images – there are numerous alternatives that you can play with.

However, the overall aesthetic of the room should remain serene so you can relax and rest – so talk with your interior designer about how to harmonise the wallpaper with the overall aesthetic.

Anchor your bed with a rug

You will remember that when discussing adding textures for a layered bedroom design, we suggested adding a rug.

As it turns out, you can use a rug to establish your bed as a focal point in the room.

This not only enhances the beauty of the room but also provides a warm and comfortable surface for your feet.

Begin colour planning with a base shade

If you think, it is obvious.

Taking the approach of having a “base colour” on which you build your overall room palette with other shades and hues gives you a good chance of being able to express themes and putting a personality into the room.

Have you considered a French-style bedroom?

It may sound like a lot of work, but achieving a French-style bedroom interior can be relatively simple.

You need to streamline furniture (as in, not have too much of it in the room), and add layered furnishings with varied textures.

Some elements you can consider – an intricately decorated headboard and smooth silk linen for the bed, wooden decor pieces and some earthy, rustic colours.

You can also see whether a patterned look fits the room

Combining intricate patterns against a subtle backdrop can create an amazing result in a bedroom interior. Mix and match spots, stripes, various kinds of prints and colour blocks – while keeping a cohesive theme in mind.

Are you looking for muted colours?

As we saw in our blog post on bedroom interior design mistakes, careful colour planning is very important to create a restful atmosphere in the room.

And, as it happens, many people have seen that muted and serene colours often give best results in the bedroom.

Even if you want deeper shades, ask the interior designer to tone them down.

You can also try darker shades

If you want to experiment with darker shades, you can certainly do that. If done in an optimum way, they can evoke classic sophistication.

For example, charcoal grey paint can add both visual richness and achieve a calming environment in your bedroom.

Is monochrome your style?

For instance, some use of black on bedroom walls can be quite effective – especially if used in contrast with bright colours on the ceiling.

To complete the look, you should add white beddings and diversely coloured furnishings, and also invest in wall art.

Decorate with lights

Carefully chosen illumination can really transform your bedroom.

Whether you go for twinkling string lights or well-placed lamps, lighting choices can influence the room’s mood and aesthetic.

But do ensure that the lighting isn’t too bright

And yes, twinkling lights can always create a sense of comfort and relief – no matter what your age

Have you heard of shiplap?

What is shiplap? Shiplap is a material made of overlapping wooden boards or panels.

It is an excellent material for your bedroom wall. It adds texture to the space and invokes the kind of cosy ambience that you’re looking for, in your bedroom.

Typical shiplap colours (various off-white shades) allow you to add visual interest to the room, while maintaining a neutral tone.

Add shelves

Even though we are bringing up storage towards the end of this blog post, you should know that boosting storage capacity is a key aim of any room design project.

And with a little work, you can make shelves not only a place to keep books, art pieces and so on but also turn them into decorative elements of the room. Talk to your chosen home designer on how you can make that happen.

Go for a cute chair

From being part of a simple chair-and-sidetable arrangement where you can have morning coffee to forming a nook where you go to relax and focus, a well-chosen charming chair can have many uses in your bedroom.

In fact, you can even use it for keeping belongings tidy.

Would you like a hanging chair?

A hanging chair not only makes a bold design statement but also brings indoor swinging fun.

It can make for a strong focal point that sets the space apart.

Decorate as you like it! (Eclectic style)

The main point of bedroom interior design is to invoke a relaxed and inviting ambience.

If you feel the best way of doing that is to go for an intentionally mismatched and disorganised appearance, go for that.

In interior design terms, that is referred to as “eclectic style design”.
